Monique Burr - Friday, October 24, 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The State of Florida’s Department of Education mandates each district to provide instruction about
Resiliency Education, Effects of Social Media, Honesty and Empathy, Gratitude, and Grit and
Perseverance in Grades 6 through 12. The state does not provide an opt-out option for these
required instruction topics, in addition, there isn't a "make-up day" if your child misses this instruction.
To foster positive relationships and collaborative learning between home and school, your school
provides parental notification prior to beginning instruction on each of these topics. If you have any questions,
please feel free to respond to this post or call the front office.
Thank you!
In compliance with the state’s statutes and rules, Hernando County school district will utilize the
Monique Burr Foundation for Children Prevention Education Program curriculum. For additional
